Washington State offers many healthcare resources for seniors, including Medicaid, Medicare Savings Programs, and Area Agencies on Aging.

Medicaid

  • Washington’s Medicaid program is called Apple Health. It provides medical care and long-term services to low-income seniors, disabled adults, and families. 
  • Medicaid is called Apple Health. Apple Health provides preventative care, like cancer screenings, treatment for diabetes and high blood pressure, and many other health care services.
     

Medicare Savings Programs 

  • Washington state offers Medicare Savings Programs for Washington residents who are current Medicare beneficiaries. The amount of financial assistance depends on income. See Paying for Senior Care

Area Agencies on Aging 

  • Local Area Agencies on Aging offer guidance on financial aid, in-home care, and long-term care planning. They also connect seniors and caregivers to community resources. Check out the Adult Family Home Locator for facilities near you.

Long-Term Care Ombudsman 

  • The Washington State Long-Term Care Ombudsman advocates for residents of nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and adult family homes.
